Save Rowhill School for Community Use.
The former Rowhill School site on Stock Lane has served Wilmington and neighbouring villages & towns for many years. It was once a valuable local asset that has since been wasted, but, once sold, it cannot be replaced.
Kent County Council has begun the process of selling the site without first asking local people what they want to see happen.
That is simply the wrong way round.
Planning advice from Dartford Borough Council has also made clear that Reform's plan for a 20-home residential development on the site is considered unacceptable, due to the loss of a community facility and conflict with adopted planning policies.
Wilmington deserves the chance to shape the future of this important site before any irreversible decisions are made.
As your Member of Parliament, I am calling on Kent County Council to:
-
Pause the sale of the Rowhill School site.
-
Work with Dartford Borough Councillors and local representatives to explore options that keep the site available for community use.
-
Carry out a full and meaningful public consultation on the site's long-term future.
I have heard from many neighbours who want to see Rowhill School remain a community asset. Time and again, people have told me they want this site protected for the benefit of local people, not lost forever.
By signing this petition, you are sending a clear message to Kent County Council: pause the sale, listen to local people and work with our community to find the right long-term future for the site.
I will present this petition to Kent County Council and continue making the case for Rowhill School to be retained for community use.
Sign the petition today.
